April 24 marked a special day in the NNJ family. We had the opportunity to recognize 15 of our players, four who made up the inaugural class of recipients of the Katie Grace Award, and 11 seniors who are committing to go on to play in college.

The Katie Grace Award is a new scholarship available to NNJ players this year and is given by Kimberly Weingartner and the Katie Grace Foundation. Katie Weingartner was a shining light of a young player who competed for NNJ in 2016 and 2017. She was known for her work ethic, her outgoing and positive personality, and her love of volleyball. She encouraged others to be the best version of themselves both on and off the court. Katie was taken from us way too early, but her legacy lives on in the players who knew her, and will now continue to affect others positively through Katie’s mom Kimberly and the Katie Grace Award.

Recipients for the 2019 season are:

Mishael Ganyon-12 Karli

Melenaite Manu-15 Vish

Hailey Passink-16 Marie

Imani Taylor-16 Adam

We are so grateful to Kimberly for allowing us to continue to honor Katie’s spirit, and to inspire other players to embody that passion for life, team, and volleyball.

In addition to this great opportunity, we also got to recognize 11 seniors who will continue their volleyball career in college. These players have been incredibly dedicated and have worked so hard to see their dream come to fruition, and we could not be
prouder or more honored to have shared in their volleyball journey.
