FAQs

Gym hours & Rules

Welcome to NNJ! We are located at 1575 Linda Way #101 in Sparks.
Whether you are here as a player on a club team, a participant in camps and clinics, a training client, a parent, or a coach, we are happy to have you in our building. Below are a few simple guidelines to which we greatly appreciate you paying attention.

  1. There should be no food inside the facility, and no drinks on the courts. Water bottles should be kept in the appropriate cubbies during water breaks.
  2. Player bags must be kept in on the cubbies surrounds the courts. Please do not leave them on the floor.
  3. Every participant must have a signed Waiver and Liability Release. Click below for a copy.
  4. Parents and spectators are not permitted to view practices and clinics at this time.
  5. Please park in NNJ available spots only, especially during normal working hours. Do not park in front of the loading bays.
  6. Courts must be left clean with balls sorted.
  7. There is no smoking anywhere in or near the NNJ Facility.

  • Are NNJ's programs open to the public?

Yes!  We love to see fresh faces from the Reno and outlying areas in the gym and encourage our girls to invite their friends and classmates to join them at our Camps, Clinics and Leagues.  Whether you're brand new to the game or have years of experience, we have programs for you!  We offer year-round Camps & Clinics for elementary, middle and high school players and highly competitive club travel teams for girls 8 and up.

  • My daughter has never played volleyball, is NNJ a good place to start?

Absolutely, our beginners can get started as early as in elementary school!  Even if your daughter is older and just starting out, we offer leagues and other programs to get players of all ages involved and provide a fun, safe place to play.

  • Does Northern Nevada Juniors select their club team players before tryouts?

No. NNJ holds open tryouts for kids from all different schools and cities. A player's school affiliation or club status from last season has no bearing on her placement on a NNJ team.

  • Can players participate in school-related sports during the NNJ club season?

Yes. We encourage multi-sport players.  Communication is key here: players must be proactive and ensure that everyone is clear on when she can be at practice, which tourneys she may miss, etc.

  • Are practices open to parents to observe?

Unfortunately, no. There is limited space at the NNJ Facility and we are unable to accommodate players, coaches and spectators in the building all at once. However, spectators watching programs at Swift Sportsdome-South Meadows are permitted and encouraged to watch. All spectators must watch from the upstairs area.

  • Who do I contact if I have a question or concern?

In order to keep misinformation to a minimum and to keep everyone on the same page, please contact Alix or Jason with a question or concern about the club. The smallest questions can turn into explosive misunderstandings if not addressed quickly. We appreciate your cooperation and attention to this issue.

  • Who decides what position my daughter will play?

Ultimately the coach will decide which position(s) your daughter will play. This will be based on which position she is best suited for, as well as the needs of the team. That being said, a coach may consider players' input--players are encouraged to be proactive and approach their coaches about playing time and position information.

  • Is it possible to get individual sessions with NNJ coaches?

Yes. NNJ coaches are available for individuals during the season and off-season. Sessions cost $90, and run between 45-60 minutes. Please contact Amy Morris if you are interested and she will put you in touch with the best coach for the skill in which you'd like to improve.

  • What if I am going to miss a practice or a tournament?

If a player is going to be late or miss an NNJ practice or tourney, we encourage THE PLAYER to contact her coach well in advance of the missed event. In order to plan the most efficient practices possible, NNJ coaches need to know who will be there. The player should contact the coach herself to raise player accountability.
